About Us
It all started in ’87 near the beach in Santa Barbara, California when two ex-hippies figured out how to roll some awesome burritos using fresh-chopped veggies, house-made rice and beans, and of course grass fed beef and all natural chicken.
Students at UC Santa Barbara quickly adopted FREEBIRDS as their own. Four years later, FREEBIRDS rolled into College Station, Texas where the Aggies at A&M got a taste of the soon-to-be legendary FREEBIRD & Monster burritos. And today, FREEBIRDS is spreading its wings and expanding across the country. Since the beginning, it was all about freedom of choice. Where else do you get your very own “roller” to help you navigate your way through more than two trillion possible burrito combinations? Four sizes of Burrito with four flavors of tortilla. AFTER 25 YEARS, WE’RE TAKING OUR FIRST STEPS TOWARDS FRANCHISING FREEBIRDS WORLD BURRITO.
To ensure that we keep the Freebirds guest experience rockin’ at the highest levels, our approach to franchising will be very selective. At this time we’re envisioning no more than a couple dozen restaurant operators across the country who will have exclusive geographic territories to develop. These territories will be large enough to sufficiently support a minimum of 15 Freebirds restaurants and will average closer to 40. We’re not looking for a lot of franchisees, we just want great ones who can help grow our brand. Candidates will need to provide the strategic and financial requirements to be a part of our exclusive group.
