The Pets Are Inn concept was founded in 1982 by a couple in Minneapolis, Minnesota. When vacationing, the family pet, Chopin (who was disguised as a dog), did not do well in a kennel facility. On subsequent trips, they solicited friends, relatives or neighbors to care for Chopin. However, they were uncomfortable with this arrangement.

Training & Support
Lodging during training is included in the franchise fee. You are responsible for your travel and meals. Materials, supplies, and the Pets Are Inn Operations Manual are furnished at no charge. After signing the franchise agreement, you will be scheduled for a one-day Franklin Quest Time Management Seminar in your area. You will also receive a count down to training manual. These tasks are designed to be completed within 3 to 4 weeks prior to attending training in Minneapolis. Your next step is attending our comprehensive training program in Minneapolis for and additional five days. There is ongoing follow up after you return to your local market. Your initial investment, which includes franchise fee, will be between $20,000 and $75,000. You will receive a complete and total training package that will enable you to start an alternative boarding service in your locality using all of the expertise and know-how that has been developed since 1982. Your market will be geographically, demographically and psychographically defined to identify target market areas for both Pet Customers and Host Families. Boarding (Lodging) and Transportation rates will be defined. An IBM compatible computer, monitor, and printer are required. You will also need a copier, facsimile machine, and access to the internet. You will receive stationary and business cards, forms and contracts, comprehensive insurance coverage, and other materials necessary for your initial start up operation. You will be licensed to use our nationally registered trademark and receive an exclusive territory. You will be assisted in the opening of your business and you will receive training and consultation over the life of the franchise.
