CONCEPT

Unlike those stuffy, ready-packaged, take-it-or-leave-it stores, The Lollipop Shop is an interactive candy and toy store with "Shopper-tainment." Our customers shop in a whimsical setting as they choose and fashion the candy creations they are going to buy. They don't just pick something off a shelf and take it to the cash register. There is a step in between that we call experience-based retailing.

 The Lollipop Shop Candy WHeel

For instance, Caraline can choose from 50 animals and then stuff it by hand at the stuffing tree. Meanwhile, Heidi can stuff a Candy Buddy with her favorite bulk candy. Bobby can take a test drive in a pedal car as his parents remember the one they had. Mom and Dad can even get in on the act and make a pixy stick with just the colors and flavors they want. Over 400 kinds of candy can be found at The Lollipop Shop including Mary Jane, BB Bats and Kits.

By the way, did you know there are 21 colors of M&M's and we have them all! Jelly Belly are a big hit as customers get to choose their favorite flavors. Our novelty toys always put a smile on old and young alike.

There's no better place to have a party than a Candy and Toy store! As the owner of a Lollipop Shop, you can host birthday parties. The flagship store hosts parties, church groups, school groups, girl scouts, etc.

AUDIENCE

Imagine owning a business that attracts all demographics!! The Lollipop Shop attracts the young and young at heart. Although kids love us, the charm, atmosphere and interactive nature of The Lollipop Shop make it a must-see destination for all ages.

HISTORY

The Lollipop Shop was born on March 22, 2001 on main street in Tennessee 's oldest town, Jonesborough. Our first location was in a small (700 square foot) chocolate-colored building. It was the perfect place to try our concept in a town that has fairly steady foot traffic. Jonesborough has three busy months which taught us how to promote the store during slower months. One of our sweetest memories was in October 2002 during the International Storytelling Festival, Jonesborough's biggest event. The temperature soared into the upper 80's and our air conditioner broke. It was 89 degrees upstairs, but customers still came in. Our floor literally buckled and around 2:00 pm we finally had to close to fix it. We expected people to leave but no! They stood in line to get in, even knowing we had no air conditioning. If we had ever doubted it before, after that, we knew The Lollipop Shop was a winner.

Two years later we moved into our current location at 123 East Main Street . It has 3,200 square feet and a lovely, new air-conditioning system.

THE LOLLIPOP SHOP AT THE BEACH CONCEPT STORE

Our franchise "model' store opened on Kiawah Island at Freshfields Village on March 2, 2007. Kiawah Island is located 25 miles south of Historic Charleston, South Carolina. The Lollipop Shop of Hiawassee opened June 27, 2008 in Hiawassee , Georgia . The Lollipop Shop of the Smokies opened July 1, 2008 in Sevierville , TN. The Lollipop Shop of Beaufort opened December 4th and on his first full day recorded over 400 sales!!

AFFORDABILITY/FLAT RATE ROYALTY

One of the biggest advantages of buying a Lollipop Shop franchise is its affordability. On average, the start-up costs, including franchise fees, run $94,000 to $160,000, which is much lower than similar opportunities. Also, The Lollipop Shop offers a "flat rate" royalty instead of the traditional 6% — 8% of sales.

On top of that, The Lollipop Shop, unlike traditional candy stores, offers the potential for large purchases. Whether it's a pedal car, a party, or just a couple of animals to stuff, it isn't uncommon to have a $70 Stuff-A-Buddy sale or a $40 candy sale. In August, The Lollipop Shop of Kiawah had a $435 sale on candy and novelties alone. In December, 90 animals were delivered to Church Hill Elementary and a check for $885 was picked up at the office. February 2009--Powell Valley Elementary will be making their second "field trip" to Jonesborough and they are bringing 65 students and parents!!

QUICK TURNAROUND

Glenn and Cindy visited The Lollipop Shop of Jonesborough (during a weekend vacation) on October 2, 2008 and opened their Lollipop Shop 65 days later in Historic Beaufort, South Carolina. They weren't looking for a business to buy but liked what they saw at the original location in Jonesborough, TN.
