Help a Child in Need With a “Snug Hug”
Volunteers Needed to Knit and Crochet Winter Items
St. Charles, Illinois – August 18, 2011 - If you knit or crochet and want to make a difference in a child’s life you can register for the Snug Hugs for Kids Crochet & Knit-A-Thon (CKAT).
Items needed most include mittens, hats, scarves, sweaters, slippers, afghans, and baby items (such as blankets, sweaters, caps, and layette sets) for children aged newborn to 18 years. All handcrafted items will be combined with the winter outerwear collected during the Snug Hugs for Kids™ children’s winter outerwear drive held by your local Merlin 200,000 Miles Shop from November 1 through December 6, 2011. All donations benefit Children’s Home + Aid, Merlin’s charity partner.
Persons interested in participating in the CKAT can register online at www.childrenshomeandaid.org/snughugs. Registration forms are also available at Merlin 200,000 Mile Shops and yarn shops located throughout Chicagoland.
On Saturday, November 19, a celebratory one-day Crochet & Knit-A-Thon event will take place at the Children’s Home + Aid Marletta Darnall Schaumburg Family Center. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is a great way to spend time with others, work on CKAT projects, view the hundreds of gorgeous items that will be donated to the children, and see the beautiful new facility. Participants who cannot attend the event can drop off finished items at any of the Merlin 200,000 Mile Shops in Illinois or Wisconsin or ship them before December 7, 2011 to Merlin’s corporate office at 3815 E. Main St., Suite D, St. Charles, IL 60174.
