Topper's Pizza Oshawa Manager Becomes a Franchise Owner on 'Giving You The Business'

- (1888PressRelease) July 09, 2013 - BARRIE, Ont. - Keith and Kelly Toppazzini, brothers and owners of Topper's Franchise Company Inc., both proudly announce Brandi Scovell as the winner of Food Network Canada's June 24 episode of 'Giving You The Business.' Scovell will receive the Topper's Pizza franchise located at 22 Stevenson Road in Oshawa, Ontario. In just a few months, Scovell will own and run this already established restaurant that presently serves as a corporate location.
Topper's Pizza and four employees were featured on Food Network Canada's 'Giving You The Business,' a new Canadian original series on Food Network Canada. In this episode, four unsuspecting Topper's managers were given the chance to become an owner of a Topper's Pizza franchise. The other managers who competed for the ultimate prize were Mitchell Simpson from Collingwood, Janette Rizzo of Barrie and Gerry Cayen of Timmins.
During the episode store managers Scovell, Rizzo, Cayen and Simpson believed they were contributing to a corporate video but instead inadvertently participated in a variety of challenging customer situations. At the show's finale the Toppazzini brothers, who were secretly watching the performance of the managers behind the scenes, selected Scovell to become an owner of a Topper's Pizza franchise.
'We threw a lot of crazy scenarios at each of the managers from a customer bringing his own toppings and dough to an extremely unprofessional deliveryman to a very large group of hungry construction workers who overpaid their bill,' said Keith Toppazzini, president of Topper's Franchise Company Inc. 'It was an incredibly tough decision to pick one person as all four of our managers performed extremely well. However, Brandi remained calm, cool and collected through all the scenarios. Nothing fazed her.'
Scovell, a young working parent, has been with Topper's Pizza Oshawa since November 2009 and promoted to store manager in January 2012. The Oshawa store, like many other Topper's Pizza locations, is truly a family affair with her father, brother and fiancé all working at the same location.
'I am so proud to now own this business and to continue working alongside my family,' says Scovell.
'Family friendly business and values are at the core of Topper's Pizza, and Brandi epitomizes these values. She's a very busy single mom who, daily, handles the stresses of raising young children to managing a busy restaurant very, very well,' says Toppazzini.
