Retro Fitness Pumps Up Member Support with Innovative Mobile App

National Fitness Franchise Launches a Digital Platform for Fitness Engagement: New Mobile App Simplifies Health Tracking, Motivates Members

COLT’S NECK, N.J., (October 28, 2014) – Retro Fitness, a leading low-cost, high-value fitness franchise system, is launching a fully integrated fitness-tracking mobile application primed to revolutionize the digital health space. Free to Retro Fitness members, the new app is now available in Apple and Android app stores and offers members the opportunity to track workouts, set goals, earn points, join challenges and share updates all while connecting with third-party apps.

In a new class of fitness club mobile apps on the market, the Retro Fitness app provides members unique and unparalleled control over their fitness data. They can take advantage of the state of the art tracking technology to control their fitness journey and progress for optimal results, while staying updated and connected with Retro Fitness clubs and members in their area and across the country.

“This app is a huge step for Retro Fitness. No other chain offers members an easy-to-use digital platform that synchs with other apps and devices. We know members will benefit from using the new, exclusive features,” noted Eric Casaburi, founder and CEO of Retro Fitness. “Having our integrated fitness app on your smart phone is like having a personal trainer in the palm of your hand.”

The app presents members with several methods to track their workouts within an easy-to-use, seamless platform. As fitness data is stored, it is measured to show the progress of a challenge or goal – giving members a complete handle on their personal fitness. Retro Reward points, redeemable for Retro Fitness prizes, can be earned for every activity on the app, from working out to checking in – even sharing on social media and using the app to join challenges and create goals.

Fitness data is pulled into the app in a few different ways: cardio machines connected to Retro Fitness’ software use members’ unique ID number to update the app with data in real time; workouts on machines outside of the network can be added by uploading a photo of the cardio machine’s screen to the app, which will recognize, retrieve and store data automatically. Third-party fitness platforms can also be linked to the app: statistics from wearable fitness technology (Fitbit®, UP by Jawbone®, etc.) and other apps like MyFitnessPal can also be included in the aggregated data stream.

“In re-designing our app, our top priority was to give our members control over their fitness goals, by streamlining the process and making fitness tracking as simple as possible,” Casaburi added. “Fitness isn’t just something that happens in the gym.”

The app resonates with Retro Fitness’ core value of providing a nonthreatening gym atmosphere where members can achieve their health goals in a supportive environment. Directly from the app, members can share their workout on social media by tweeting, posting to Facebook and checking in on Foursquare. The app also includes an interactive social platform for each gym where members can engage, support and motivate each other by sharing workout status updates, progress on their goals, etc.
