San Diego couple open Submarina California Subs in Cadiz!

Cadiz, Ohio. It’s not every day you hear about people leaving sunny San Diego California for
Cadiz Ohio. But that’s exactly what Samuel and Diana Liang did in order to follow their dream. “We
wanted a change of pace.” Stated Samuel. “A smaller town where you could be a part of an entire
community and make a difference in peoples lives. Cadiz is the perfect place for us”.
Samuel and Diana both moved to California in 1966 after completing college. Samuel worked for
General Atomics as a Senior Research Engineer. His wife Diana opened a critically acclaimed
Chinese restaurant in prestigious La Jolla, California called Sun’s Kitchen. The couple, along with
their 3 children, worked at the busy restaurant for over 20 years. “I used to say that for some
people, owning a restaurant was a way of life, but for us, it was a way of making friends”, says
Diana. “We still hold this same philosophy, now more than ever”!
In 2002, the Liang’s purchased property in Cadiz where the former Taco Bell/KFC was located.
When the lease expired, Samuel and Diana decided to open their own Submarina California Subs
in place of these two fast food giants. “We had a sandwich deli for 9 years after we sold Sun’s
Kitchen.” Samuel explained. “We’ve always believed in fresh, quality ingredients and a healthy
lifestyle. Submarina California Subs really embodied this for us. From the premium meats and
cheeses hand sliced for every sandwich, to the farm fresh veggies and California ripe avocados,
we’re just so excited to bring this level of freshness to our community”.
Submarina opened their doors officially on Monday, June 13th. On this day, California became a
little closer to all those who reside in Cadiz.
