Sport Clips Haircuts Sees Growth as Industry Leader

Founder Cites Increased Sales, No Store Closings,

Strong Franchise Sales for Successful Year

For Immediate Release:

GEORGETOWN, Texas (February 29, 2012) – Sport Clips Haircuts, the nation’s leading men’s and boys’ hair care provider, experienced its most successful year to date in 2011 with sales at retail of $250 million, no store closings, and strong franchise sales, continuing its trend as both a franchise and beauty industry leader.

With more than 860 stores open in 39 states, Sport Clips is leading the growth trend in the hair care industry with an increase in system-wide revenue of 22 percent over 2010, with a 10 percent growth in same store sales in 2011.  A recent report from the Professional Salon Industry Haircare Study indicates the “salon hair care market segment” as a whole experienced 3.5 percent overall growth last year.

Sport Clips opened 91 stores in 2011 and was named a “Top 20 Fastest Growing Franchise” by Entrepreneur Magazine, placing it in the “Top 50 Fastest Growing” ranking for the 8th consecutive year, demonstrating the company’s growth leadership in the franchise industry. The company expects a 20 percent increase in unit count this year, exceeding the franchise industry’s 5 percent unit growth in 2010 as cited by Franchise Times magazine and the expected 2 percent overall growth in the year ahead, according to the International Franchise Association (IFA) in Washington, D.C.

Founder and CEO Gordon Logan attributes the success of Sport Clips to several factors: “Outstanding store performance was due to our intensive training programs, and our local, regional and national marketing programs that were successfully implemented and executed by our Team Leaders (franchisees).  We also have identified plentiful real estate opportunities for future growth, and increasing numbers of individuals investing in our franchise opportunity made for a strong 2011,” says Logan. “Our success speaks to the strength of the Sport Clips brand and is especially evident in the fact that we had no store closings last year - truly remarkable for a franchise of our size.”

Sport Clips recently ranked as a top 50 business for “franchisee satisfaction” according to a Franchise Business Review poll of more than 22,000 franchisees representing 300 brands.

“We are planning another highly productive year,” Logan adds, “Many of our Clients are looking to us for their hair care needs and discovering Sport Clips is also a great business investment opportunity.  We are on target to have 1,000 Sport Clips stores open by the end of 2012!'
