SAN DIEGO, April 27, 2010 – Throughout May, The UPS Store ® will be hosting free franchise-opportunities seminars nationwide for individuals interested in joining the nation’s largest franchise network of retail shipping, postal, printing and business services centers. Those who attend a seminar and are qualified as a franchisee will receive a $10,000 discount on the $29,950 initial franchise fee for opening a new franchise location.


“We have pioneered and led our industry for more than 30 years,” said Tom Crockett, vice president of sales and marketing for Mail Boxes Etc., Inc. (MBE), franchisor of The UPS Store. “Our franchise opportunities seminars help individuals more thoroughly assess the opportunity of becoming their own boss.”


“My wife and I were looking for a business opportunity soon after I retired,” said Brad Lorton, who attended a seminar in 2009. “While we had talked over the phone with a The UPS Store contact, it was important for us to meet face-to-face and ask questions. The UPS Store staff provided information on how the business operated and showed us the professionalism of the company and brand.”


In October of 2009, Brad and his wife, Bernadett, opened their The UPS Store location in Georgia. Nearly seven months later, the Lortons are realizing their dream of running their own business.
