Atlanta-based US Franchise Systems, Inc. is a noted hotel franchising company, formed in 1995 by hotel industry icon Mike Leven and acquired by business interests of the Pritzker family of Chicago in November of 2000. USFS is now a subsidiary of Global Hyatt Corporation.

USFS’ hotel brands include Microtel Inns & Suites, the award-winning chain of all newly constructed, interior-corridor economy hotels, and Hawthorn Suites, the all-suite, mid-market, extended-stay chain. The Company has a system wide total of more than 400 hotels open or under construction around the globe.

USFS has gained national recognition as a fair franchisor, both customer and franchisee-oriented, with a reputation for treating franchisees fairly and a franchise license agreement that has become an industry model. We have been named a Best Practice Champion by the American Hotel Foundation, and were the first hotel company to receive the Fair Franchising Seal from the American Association of Franchisees and Dealers (AAFD) - initially in 2000 - and have continued to qualify each year since. What makes this particularly meaningful is that our own franchisees voted overwhelmingly for us to receive the seal.


Training & Support

Pre-Opening Support
To ensure your hotel opening is a smooth and seamless process, your hotel is assigned an internal support team consisting of a franchise services manager and a director of field operations. These people will work in tandem to assist you and your team from execution of your license agreement through the opening of your new hotel.

Your franchise services manager will work to provide as many resources as possible on every aspect of opening and operating a successful hotel. This includes assistance with loading your hotel information, rates and availability within our central reservations system, brand web sites and third party web sites as well as pre-opening purchasing guidance and training opportunities. They will also orient you on the various resources and support tools that have been designed to enhance your business operations and bring additional value to your bottom line.

Your director of field operations will visit your property and will work with you and your team to develop revenue management strategies, sales and marketing plans and forecasting, budgeting and reporting best practices. They will also review other valuable resources that are available to you such as brand, quality and service standards, measurement tools and operational team training.

Post-Opening Support
Once your property officially opens, your director of field operations will provide on-site assistance for all operational and training needs. Directors of field operations are located regionally and offer the most face-to-face contact with your property management team. Each hands-on consultation will cover a variety of topics including revenue management strategies, regional and national marketing initiatives as well as training and mentoring on available tools and resources.

Your franchise services manager is your key contact. This person will provide guaranteed 24-hour response time to any immediate questions, concerns or requests for assistance you may have. They will also regularly monitor your hotel’s operating performance, and will be integral in working with you and your team on purchasing, local press releases, training opportunities, quality and service standards, marketing and sales tips, operational assistance, and more!
